About this template

Sauna – Safety Check, Operation Log & Action Register is an editable document package for housing cooperatives, property owners, and facility managers to document inspections and maintenance in communal saunas. Here you get five sauna-specific work documents, two user guides, and an Excel register. All operational templates are in Swedish; the English guide is a user instruction.

Important when purchasing: The templates are administrative aids for observations, fault reporting, and follow-up. They are not installation certificates, fire or electrical safety certifications, and do not determine whether a sauna is safe to operate.

01. Package Contents

15 customer files: 7 editable Word (DOCX) files, 7 corresponding searchable PDFs (for printing/reference), and 1 Excel workbook (XLSX) with nine tabs. Five standalone work documents, a Swedish user guide, and an English User Guide. Delivered as a digital ZIP file after the product is later published and the file is linked for download.

02. What the Files Contain

Opening and closing routine, inspection round with deviations, unit and operation log with optional manual observations, fault reporting with possible temporary shutdown, and service protocol with a separate responsible decision to return to operation. Excel compiles entered items, rounds, faults, and statuses without automatically determining safety or inspecting physical equipment.

Sauna – Operation and Action Log Nine tabs for sauna items, rounds, operation logs, faults, actions, service, and dashboard Swedish XLSX

Who is a sauna operation log suitable for?

For an organization that manages a communal sauna and needs clear roles, dated observations, case IDs, and follow-up on actual service actions. For example, a housing cooperative with a communal sauna or a smaller property facility. Instead, choose a professional inspection and the manufacturer's manual when technical safety or installation needs to be assessed.

Excel Tool with Nine Tabs

Start, Sauna Items, Rounds, Operation Logs, Fault Cases, Actions, Service, Dashboard, and Read Me. In each register, 500 rows are prepared with clear columns and status lists. The dashboard summarizes registered items, rounds, deviations, faults, and actions. Tested logic distinguishes between a registered service date and a separate decision to return to operation. No connection to the sauna unit, temperature automation, dispatch, or automatic approval is included.

How to Use the Documents

  1. Identify the sauna, unit, manual, and responsible roles.
  2. Establish the facility's own inspection intervals and risk routines based on actual conditions.
  3. Document opening checks and safety rounds, including anything that could not be assessed.
  4. Record manual operation data and observations. Link deviations to a Fault ID.
  5. Suspend use in case of suspected danger according to the local routine and call in an expert if necessary.
  6. Distinguish between requested service, performed service, verified inspection, and a responsible decision to return to operation.

Legal Requirements and Limitations

According to the Electrical Safety Act (2016:732), Sections 17–19, there are obligations related to the safe use, maintenance, and ongoing inspection of electrical equipment. The Act on Protection Against Accidents, Chapter 2, Section 2 addresses the owner's and user's responsibility for reasonable fire protection. The templates do not provide a statutory standard interval or generic technical limit values.

Boverket's guidance covers, among other things, the risk of entrapment and doors in saunas and the ignition risk around sauna units. Which building regulations apply depends on factors including the building and any transitional rules. They cannot be determined by this template.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is a sauna log mandatory by law?

There is no general requirement for this specific form. However, requirements for safe equipment and reasonable fire protection may apply, and the business needs to arrange documentation and inspection based on the circumstances.

Does Excel Contain Automatic Temperature Limits?

No. Temperature can be recorded manually, but the workbook does not determine which temperature is safe and does not control the unit.

Is the Sauna Approved After Service Has Been Performed?

No. Performed service is distinct from inspection and a separate decision by the responsible person to return to operation.

Can the PDF Files Be Filled Out Digitally?

The Word files are editable. The PDF files are searchable print and reference versions; interactive PDF forms are not promised.

Are There English Templates?

A separate English User Guide is included. The five operational templates and the Excel workbook are in Swedish and intended for Swedish conditions.
