About this template
The Boat Service Log and Maintenance Record is a digital working tool for private leisure boat owners. Collect completed engine service, planned maintenance, launching, hauling out, faults, costs, and waste management in five Swedish document templates and an Excel record. The package is delivered in Word (DOCX), searchable PDF, and Excel (XLSX).
Important before purchase: The documents are the owner's own log, not the manufacturer's official service book, seaworthiness certificate, regulatory certification, or an approval of the boat's technical condition. Neither a completed checklist nor an Excel status indicates that a boat is safe to use.
01. Package Contents
5 Swedish working templates, a Swedish user guide, and an English User Guide. All seven documents are delivered in both editable Word format and searchable, printable PDF. In addition, 1 Excel workbook with nine tabs is included. Total of 15 files in a ZIP (7 DOCX, 7 PDF, 1 XLSX).
02. What the Files Contain
Service history, engine service protocol, seasonal checklist, fault and action report, environmental and cost log, practical guides, and an Excel record with boat records, service entries, statuses, costs, and summaries.
When Should You Choose the Boat Service Log?
Choose the package when you want to organize the maintenance of one or more leisure boats yourself and keep references to actual invoices, receipts, workshop orders, and waste receipts. A specific boat template is more relevant than the car service log in the Template Store because it covers engine and hull systems, launching, hauling out, and hull cleaning.
A workshop or company that needs a business system, work orders with invoicing, certification, or professional inspection needs other tools. No automatic safety, environmental, or warranty assessments are included.

Excel Record – What Does It Calculate?
The workbook contains the tabs Overview, Boat Record, Service History, Engine & Technology, Seasonal Check, Faults & Actions, Costs, Environment & Waste, and Read Me. The Overview calculates the number of registered boats and service entries, sums manually entered costs, and counts entries with open faults, planned seasonal points, and manually registered verified actions. An administrative status never automatically means a safety- or environmentally approved boat.
How to Use the Template Package
- Assign the boat a boat ID and check engine and equipment details.
- Base it on the specific manufacturer instructions for the boat and equipment.
- Document planned and actually performed work in separate statuses.
- Save receipts and other supporting documentation with a reference ID.
- Record observed faults and make a separate note of the actual follow-up inspection.
- Follow local information for winter storage, hull cleaning, and waste management.
- Review the data and complete the desired Word documents; print the PDF if necessary.
Legal and Practical Prerequisites
The Swedish Transport Agency explains the responsibility for seaworthiness and good seamanship on leisure boats. A private service log does not transfer the responsibility to the document and cannot be used as a guarantee of seaworthiness. Read the Swedish Transport Agency's information on seaworthiness.
The Swedish Maritime Administration has special guidance on cleaning boat hulls; suitable methods vary depending on material, paint system, and facility. This log does not determine which method is permitted for a particular boat. Read the Swedish Maritime Administration's guidelines. See also the Swedish Transport Agency on waste from leisure boats.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is this the same as an official service book?
No. The log provides structure for your own service data. Manufacturers' and workshops' own systems or service terms need to be checked separately.
Are the documents suitable for outboard and inboard engines?
Yes, the fields can be adapted to both. Technical instructions, service intervals, and safety requirements, however, must be obtained from the correct manufacturer and model.
Can Excel determine if the boat is seaworthy?
No. Excel only sums manually registered entries and costs. The boat's safety requires actual inspections and, when necessary, a competent professional assessment.
Can I use the seasonal checklist before winter storage?
Yes, as support for organizing planned and performed inspections. Follow the manufacturer's instructions and local harbor rules.
Are the PDF files fillable?
No, the PDF files are searchable print and reading versions without interactive form fields. The Word versions can be edited.
Are English boat service protocols included?
No. The five working templates and Excel are in Swedish. The English user guide explains how the Swedish documents are used.
