About this template
IT Service Catalogue & Service Description is a digital package for structuring the IT services an organization offers, what each service entails, who owns it, and how users access it. With Word, searchable PDF, and Excel, you get five Swedish working templates, two user guides, and a register with nine tabs. The package is suitable for internal IT, service desks, system administration, and smaller IT service providers looking to create a clear and maintainable catalogue.
01. Package Contents
7 DOCX + 7 searchable PDFs + 1 XLSX = 15 customer files. Five Swedish working documents in Word/PDF, one Swedish user guide and one English User Guide in Word/PDF, plus an Excel register. Delivered as a ZIP file for digital download after purchase. The English guide is a reference and does not mean that the Swedish main templates are translated.
02. What the Files Contain
Service cards with scope, target audience, and ownership function; ordering channels and approval; contact and support information; lifecycle review; publication and change control. Excel has nine tabs, status and category drop-down lists, duplicate checks for Service ID, and an overview with eight administrative key metrics that do not count empty register rows.
What is an IT Service Catalogue?
A service catalogue is a structured description of the services that can be used or ordered from an IT function or IT service provider. It specifies, for example, what is included, the target audience, the ordering channel, the service owner, contact channels, and links to existing service levels. This product is a documentation and register package, not an operational self-service portal or an automated monitoring solution.

The Excel Workbook – Nine Tabs
Overview, Services, Ordering Channels, Contacts, Service Goals, Dependencies, Review, Changes, and Read Me. The main register has a unique Service ID, name, category, owner, target audience, status, and ordering channel. A quality flag marks duplicate IDs and missing core fields. The overview counts registered, published, planned, and paused services, as well as certain other administrative registrations. Important: a registered status of “Published” does not mean that a service is actually available; actual agreements, support channels, and publication decisions must be checked separately.
How to Use the Templates
- Decide whether the service catalogue should be internal, external, or have different target audiences.
- Create a unique Service ID and appoint an authorized service owner.
- Describe the service's benefit and exactly what is and is not included.
- Correctly document the ordering channel, authorization requirements, and contact function.
- Refer to the actually applicable SLA/OLA or decision – do not make up service levels.
- Review security, personal data, and publication mandate.
- Approve, publish, and perform a separate post-publication review.
- Plan recurring review and version control.
Suitable for Corporate IT and IT Service Providers
The package provides a uniform presentation of services for IT departments, system administrators, service desks, and smaller providers. To organize technical systems and management responsibilities, there is also the System Management Plan & IT System Register. For measuring and monitoring existing service levels, you can see the SLA Report & IT Operations Monitoring. These address other parts of IT management and are not replaced by a service catalogue.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is the difference between a service catalogue and a system inventory?
A service catalogue describes what users or customers can get, how it is ordered, and who is responsible. A system or configuration register, instead, describes the technical and organizational components that support the services.
Are ready-made IT services with guaranteed support times included?
No. You get editable templates and empty registers, not actual services, guaranteed response times, or pre-agreed delivery terms. All such information must be filled in based on your organization's actual decisions.
Is the Excel register an automated ordering portal?
No. It is an administrative register with validation and summarization. It does not create accounts, send orders, monitor operations, or make authorization decisions.
Can the service catalogue be used for external customers?
Yes, after internal review of agreements, accuracy, confidentiality, rights, and publication mandate. The catalogue text itself does not change existing agreements or automatically give the customer the right to a service.
Are the Word and PDF files editable?
The DOCX files can be edited in compatible programs. The PDF files are searchable and intended for reading or printing, but no interactive PDF forms are included.
Is everything in English?
No. An English User Guide in Word and PDF is included, but the five working documents themselves are in Swedish.
Does the package meet ITIL or ISO/IEC 20000-1?
No certification or guaranteed regulatory compliance is included. The package has been designed with established methodological principles in mind, but proper service management requires that the organization actually implements and follows relevant processes, agreements, and requirements.
