About this template
Houseplant Journal & Plant Care Log is a digital template package for you who want to collect your houseplants' information and document watering, light conditions, repotting, observations, and actual expenses. Use Word for standalone plant cards, print checklists in PDF, or track plants over time with an Excel log.
Important: This is a private planning and documentation tool. It does not identify plant species, diagnose plant diseases, determine whether a plant is safe for children or pets, or provide automatic care or pest control advice.
01. Package Contents
5 Swedish work templates, 1 Swedish user guide, and 1 English User Guide. All 7 documents are included in both editable Word (DOCX) and searchable, print-friendly PDF. In addition, 1 Excel workbook (XLSX) with 9 tabs is included. Total of 15 files in ZIP.
02. What the Files Contain
Plant cards, watering control, care and feeding log, repotting protocol, observations, and action plan. Excel collects individual plant IDs, completed actions, deviations, tasks, receipts, and costs in a single overview.

Excel – Nine Coordinated Tabs
Overview, Plants, Watering Log, Care Log, Repotting, Observations, Costs, Action Plan, and Read Me. Enter the same Plant ID to link your notes. Excel summarizes registered plants, actually completed watering, care, and repotting, manually marked tasks, and receipts/costs in Swedish krona.
The overview is based on your own entries: a planned activity is not counted as completed watering. The customer file is delivered without fictitious test entries. Each work tab supports up to 200 input rows.
How to Use the Documents
- Create a unique Plant ID and register each plant's name, location, and light.
- Verify the plant's identification and care needs in a reliable species-specific source.
- Observe the soil's moisture and the pot's drainage before making a decision about watering.
- Document actually completed actions in the watering and care log.
- Note repotting, changes, and any photo references.
- Follow up on unresolved observations in the action plan.
Why Doesn't the Template Suggest a Fixed Watering Schedule?
Different houseplants and different environments require different watering. The Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) recommends checking the actual moisture content and the plant's conditions, not routine watering based solely on the date. Read RHS guidance for houseplants and RHS information on common houseplant problems.
Frequently Asked Questions About the Houseplant Journal
Can I Register Multiple Houseplants?
Yes, use Plant IDs and enter up to 200 entries per work tab in Excel.
Does Excel Send Watering Reminders?
