About this template

Wage claim and wage demand – template for unpaid agreed wages. For an employee in Sweden who wants to document wages that, according to the employment agreement, have fallen due but have not been paid. The package consists of editable Word files, searchable PDF versions, and an administrative Excel register. Important before purchase: this is a basis for preparing and following up on claims, not a completed court case. Collective agreements, holiday pay, and special labor law time limits require independent assessment.

01. Package contents

15 customer files in a ZIP: five Swedish working documents, one Swedish user guide and one English User Guide, all in Word (7 DOCX) and searchable PDF (7 PDF), plus an Excel workbook with nine tabs (1 XLSX). The PDF files are print versions, not interactive forms. The English guide is instructional, not an English legal version of the demand letter.

02. What the files contain

Detailed wage claim, compilation of agreed wages and working hours, payment reconciliation distinguishing between gross and net, reminder and request for the employer's response, evidence and communication log, two guides, and an Excel register for administrative follow-up tasks.

Is this the right document?

Yes, if you need to compile one or more periods of what you believe to be unpaid agreed wages and contact the employer in writing. Do not use the template unchanged for bankruptcy/wage guarantee, dismissal disputes, discrimination, holiday pay, or extensive collective agreement claims; other material rules and time limits may apply. Contact a trade union or legal advisor if in doubt.

What can the Excel tool do?

The nine tabs are named Overview, Employment, Wage Items, Working Hours, Payments, Documents, Communication, Controls, and Read Me. Seven compilation formulas show, among other things, the number of registered wage items, the sum of manually claimed gross amounts, separately registered net payments, and administrative control statuses. The formulas have been function-tested, and the test data has been removed. Excel does not calculate legally entitled final claims, payroll tax, interest, collective agreement time limits, or prescription. Claimed gross wages must not be directly reduced by a net payment.

Practical workflow

  1. Check the employment agreement, wage terms, and any collective agreement.
  2. Collect relevant schedules, time reports, pay slips, and bank payments.
  3. Distinguish between agreed wages, wages reported by the employer, and actual net payments.
  4. Fill in the demand letter with wage periods, your own calculation basis, amounts, and evidence.
  5. Check applicable time limits with a trade union or knowledgeable advisor if necessary.
  6. Send in a documentable manner and follow up on actual communication in the register.

Legal prerequisites and limitations

Agreements and applicable collective agreements often govern the amount of wages and the due date. The Prescription Act (1981:130) contains general rules on claims but should not be applied mechanically without checking special rules. The MBL, especially Sections 64–66, and collective agreements may involve special negotiation or claim time limits. The Holiday Act, Section 33, regulates a special claim time limit for such claims. The Interest Act, Sections 3–4, contains rules on default interest, but the package's Excel does not calculate interest. The templates do not guarantee a specific legal outcome or interruption of prescription.

Frequently asked questions

How do I claim unpaid wages?

Collect agreements, wage periods, and payment records, write a concrete claim with amounts and reasons, and send it in a documentable manner to the correct employer. Check the time limits especially carefully.

Can I claim wages even if the employer disputes them?

Yes, you can present your claim, but whether it is legally sustainable is determined by agreements, evidence, and applicable law. A dispute may require trade union negotiation or adjudication in a labor dispute.

Can I deduct net wages from the gross claim in Excel?

No. Net and gross are not comparable without reconciling reported tax deductions and other deductions. They are stored in different columns.

Does the template automatically interrupt prescription?

No. Special labor law time limits may apply, and a regular letter does not guarantee interruption in all situations. If there is a time risk, you should contact a trade union or lawyer as soon as possible.

Are the PDF files fillable, and do I get an English demand letter?

The PDF files are searchable and printable but not interactive. The Word files are editable. The English guide explains the Swedish working documents and is not an English demand letter.
