About this template
Pallet racking & racking inspection – document racking IDs, visible inspections, damage, inspection orders, and actions. For warehouse managers, employers, and operations organizations in Swedish workplaces. You receive editable Word templates, searchable PDF versions, and an Excel register. Important: This is an administrative document package, not a certified inspection, load-bearing calculation, or certificate of safe racking.
01. Package contents
15 files: 7 Word (DOCX), 7 corresponding searchable and printable A4 PDFs, and one Excel workbook (XLSX). The package contains five Swedish work documents, one Swedish user guide, and one English User Guide. Digital ZIP delivery followed by subsequent manual publication and file linking. No physical shipping.
02. What the files contain
Separate documents for identifying pallet racking and load signs, visible damage checks, ordering an expert inspection, non-conformities with temporary protective measures, and final post-inspection. Excel compiles actual data in nine tabs. An ordered inspection is not a completed inspection; a completed action is not verified, and return to service requires a separate assessment.
When do I need a pallet racking log?
When different racking sections are to be assigned their own IDs and a consolidated administrative history of rounds, damage, reports, and operational decisions. For a broader examination of, for example, forklift traffic, order picking, and ergonomics, use our risk assessment for warehouses and warehouse work. This product does not replace that workplace environment assessment.

Excel – what works automatically?
Nine tabs: Start, Racking, Rounds, Damage, Actions, Inspections, Decisions, Overview, and Read Me. The workbook contains manual entry fields, status lists, and 15 administrative summaries. There are 300 pre-prepared rows in each operational register. Test cases include reported damage, ordered action, completed but unverified action, and separately decided return to service. Excel only calculates entered status values and does not check technical safety or compliance with the workplace environment regulations.
Practical use
- Record the racking IDs and link each section to actual supplier, installation, and load documentation.
- Establish local inspection routines based on the workplace risks, relevant standards, and competence.
- Perform the visual inspections you are qualified for. Write Not assessed when the assessment is missing.
- Report damage and take actual protective measures based on the risk assessment, for example, cordoning off the affected area.
- Order an expert inspection if necessary and archive the performer's actual report.
- Record the completed action and separate post-inspection; let the authorized function decide on continued use.
What do Swedish workplace environment regulations say?
AFS 2023:12, Chapter 3, Sections 29–31 covers, among other things, load marking for racking, anchoring, and impact protection where necessary, as well as protection against puncture. AFS 2023:11 contains rules on the safe use and inspection of work equipment. The Swedish Work Environment Authority's checklist for pallet racking states that annual documented inspection should be carried out and refers to SS-EN 15635:2008 as a suitable standard. The paid standard full text has not been reviewed in the product development, and no numerical permissible damage deformations are included.
Frequently asked questions
Is an annual racking inspection always an express legal requirement?
No, not as a universal rule with exactly the same interval for all racking. The Swedish Work Environment Authority's checklist recommends recurring documented inspection, including annually. Determine what applies to your equipment and operations based on regulations, risks, instructions, and applicable standards.
Is a completed damage log sufficient to continue using the pallet racking?
No. The log documents observations and administrative steps. Actual damage, protective measures, expert assessment, and a separate decision must be handled correctly.
Can Excel determine if a bent upright is safe?
No. Excel contains no structural calculations or damage tolerances. The person making the technical assessment needs relevant competence and the correct basis.
Are the PDF files editable forms?
The PDF files are searchable and printable. The Word versions are editable in compatible programs; interactive fillable PDF forms are not included.
What does the English guide mean?
It explains the use of the Swedish documents in English. The main templates and Excel are in Swedish and are not adapted to foreign law.
