About this template

Has the bicycle shop made an incorrect repair, charged for unexpected parts, or failed to return the bicycle on time? This package helps private individuals in Sweden complain about a specific bicycle repair, request pricing and spare parts documentation, document damage, and pursue a reasoned claim for compensation. It does not automatically entitle the user to payment exemption, compensation, or a technical safety assessment.

Quick facts: Five Swedish working documents, a Swedish user guide and an English User Guide, each available as a DOCX and a searchable PDF. Also included is a Swedish-language Excel workbook with nine tabs. Total of 7 independent documents in two formats + 1 Excel = 15 customer files. DOCX is editable. PDF is searchable and printable but not interactively fillable. Intended for digital delivery after separate activation: ZIP.

01 · Package contents

Five Swedish complaint and working documents, one Swedish user guide and one English user guide = seven independent documents. Each document is provided as a DOCX and a corresponding searchable PDF. A separate Excel workbook (.xlsx) contains nine tabs. 7 DOCX + 7 PDF + 1 XLSX = 15 customer files. The PDFs are formatted copies, not seven additional legal templates.

02 · What the files contain

Letters for incorrectly performed repairs, specifications of workshop invoices and spare parts, damage claims for bicycle damage, requests regarding delays or failure to deliver, and a neutral case and evidence log. The guides describe options and limitations; the Excel workbook separates the user's own claims from the company's offer, written approval, and the amount actually received.

Who should choose the document package?

Situation 1: The workshop has serviced or replaced parts, but the bicycle still malfunctions. Use document 01 to describe the fault specifically and request an assessment and remedy. Situation 2: A repair invoice contains additions and spare parts you do not recognize. Document 02 helps you request documentation and state the exact objection.

Choose a different resource for complaining about a newly purchased bicycle, corporate agreements, insurance claims unrelated to the workshop, or pure technical risk assessment. If you suspect a fault in the brakes, handlebars, or another safety-critical function: do not use the bicycle until it has been inspected by a qualified professional.

The Excel tool – nine tabs

The tabs are Overview, Cases, Bicycles, Submission, Damage, Claims, Messages, Actions and Read Me. For each case, you can record the order number, bicycle, before/after photos, actual dates, messages, and administrative actions. The status planned is not the same as completed or separately verified; a sent message is not automatically received.

Example: 850 SEK in requested repair/damage costs and 150 SEK in requested other costs gives 1,000 SEK requested. This is not a legally established claim. The offer, documented approval, and amount actually received are recorded in different fields. Excel does not determine liability, reasonable compensation, safety, or legal deadlines.

How to use the files

  1. Collect the work order, invoice, price quote, receipt, bicycle model, and before/after photos.
  2. Describe concrete faults and dates without assuming a technical cause unless it has been investigated.
  3. Choose the correct letter, fill in Word, and remove irrelevant alt text.
  4. Separate claims for the price of the service from alleged damage to the bicycle. Check the amount, attachments, and legal prerequisites.
  5. Send with tracking and archive the message itself and the proof of dispatch.
  6. Follow up on actual responses and record the offer, approval, action, and payment separately.

Legal prerequisites and limitations

Consumer Services Act (1985:716) normally applies to a company's repair of an individual's bicycle. Section 4 stipulates requirements for professional performance; issues regarding faults and consequences are addressed, among other places, in Sections 9 and 16–23. A complaint under Section 17 must be made within a reasonable time after the fault is discovered; within two months is always considered to be in good time, and for work on movable property, three years from the completion of the assignment normally applies as the absolute latest limit, with exceptions. The Swedish Consumer Agency's guidance on repair services provides practical orientation.

Delay, invoice objection, remedy, price reduction, rescission, and damages have different requirements. No template determines liability or an automatic right to compensation. The purchase price of the bicycle does not necessarily equal the actual value of the damage. For large amounts, debt collection, particularly complex technical issues, or traffic safety risks, an individual legal or technical assessment may be required.

Compare with related documents

If the workshop dispute later leads to an actual debt collection claim, that is a different process. See Dispute a debt collection claim – objection letter and evidence log. The documentation here primarily applies to complaints made to the bicycle workshop.

Frequently asked questions

Can I complain about incorrectly performed bicycle servicing?

Yes, an actual fault in a professional repair can be complained about under the Consumer Services Act. Document what was agreed and what is actually wrong, and complain within a reasonable time.

Am I always entitled to a new bicycle or a full refund?

No. The consequences depend on the fault, the agreement, causation, and other legal prerequisites. The original purchase price is not automatically the correct compensation value.

Can I dispute the entire invoice?

A written objection can be made, but it does not automatically create a suspension of payment or the right to withhold the entire amount. The amount and any rights under, among other things, Section 19 must be assessed separately.

Are the PDF files fillable?

The PDF files are searchable and printable but contain no interactive form fields. The DOCX version is editable.

Are the legal documents in English?

No. Five working documents are in Swedish and pertain to Swedish law. Only the English User Guide provides English user instructions.

Can Excel verify the bicycle's road safety?

No. Excel compiles data and performs arithmetic calculations. It is not a technical inspection or safety tool.
