About this template

Has the locksmith replaced a lock that still does not work, sent an unexpected emergency invoice, or caused damage to the door or frame? This Swedish document package helps individuals make a complaint about lock replacement and installation, request an itemized bill after emergency lock opening, document alleged property damage, and follow up on delayed lock service. It does not determine whether the company made a mistake, what compensation is reasonable, or whether the lock is secure.

Quick facts: Five Swedish work templates, one Swedish user guide, and one English User Guide in both editable Word (DOCX) and searchable, printable PDF without interactive form fields. Also included is a Swedish-language Excel tool with nine tabs. 7 independent documents in two formats + 1 Excel = 15 customer files. Jurisdiction: Sweden. Digital ZIP delivery planned for later manual activation.

01 · Package contents

Five Swedish work documents, one Swedish user guide, and one English guide. All seven documents are included in both Word (DOCX) and corresponding searchable PDF formats; also included is an XLSX workbook. 7 DOCX + 7 PDF + 1 XLSX = 15 files. The PDF files are formatted copies, not additional standalone legal templates.

02 · What the files contain

Substantive complaint about lock work, emergency and price objection, documentation of damage to the door/frame, follow-up on delays, and a neutral evidence report. The guides explain legal rules and limitations. Excel helps keep the order, invoice, observations, claims, the company's offer, and actually received payment separate.

Who is the package for?

Situation A – error after lock replacement: The door can no longer be locked normally after work you ordered. Use the complaint template to distinguish actual observation from assumed cause and request a professional assessment. Situation B – expensive emergency call-out: You have received an unexpected cost for travel, emergency time, materials, or an additional step. Use the invoice check to request an itemized bill and object to specific items with reference to your agreement.

Situation C – visible damage: The frame or door has new damage after the work. Use the damage and evidence basis with before/after photos and a professional opinion, if applicable, without assuming that the locksmith caused the damage. Situation D – failure to provide service: Document the agreed time and actual communication in the delay template.

Choose another template when the dispute primarily concerns the purchase of a separate lock product without a standalone installation service, a landlord's own claim, a corporate/B2B agreement, or an insurance claim without an allegedly faulty locksmith service.

Excel: nine practical work tabs

The workbook consists of Overview, Cases, Doors and Locks, Work Orders, Deviations, Claims, Contacts, Actions, and Read Me. It contains 290 formulas for, among other things, summations, date checks, amount reviews, and a clearly marked comparison of approximate price estimates. Excel cannot calculate complaint deadlines, lock security, entitlement to compensation, or legal liability.

Example: A requested price reduction of SEK 1,500 plus requested substantiated additional costs of SEK 350 gives SEK 1,850 requested. If the company offers SEK 900, the parties mutually agree to SEK 600, and you receive SEK 300 paid out, these amounts are displayed separately. Neither the requested nor the offered amount automatically becomes a legally established claim.

An invoice of SEK 1,200 compared to an approximate price estimate of SEK 1,000 gives a control signal for the 15 percent threshold. That signal is not a decision on a legal violation: for example, an agreed-upon different price limit or legal price additions may affect the assessment.

How the package is used

  1. Collect orders, quotes, receipts, invoices, any SMS about price and time, and relevant photos.
  2. Choose the right document – error, invoice, damage, delay, or neutral evidence log.
  3. Fill in Word, check the information, and delete irrelevant options and help instructions.
  4. Describe what has happened and what you are requesting; keep objective observations separate from conclusions about errors and liability.
  5. Send the letter with tracking, keep the supporting documentation, and document the actual response, decision, and actions separately in Excel.
  6. In case of a risk of an unsecured or unlocked door: promptly hire a qualified professional. The package does not teach lock opening.

Legal basis and limitations

Consumer Services Act (1985:716) normally applies to independent work that a company performs for a consumer on a building, property, or movable property (§ 1). Professionalism and care are addressed in § 4. Errors and consequences are regulated in, among others, §§ 9 and 16–23; delays in §§ 24–31; price in §§ 36–38, and itemized billing in § 40. No requirement for an immediate full price reduction, rescission, or damages arises automatically.

Especially regarding complaint deadlines: A complaint must be made within a reasonable time after discovery. Within two months after discovery is always on time. The latest limit according to § 17 is, as a general rule, ten years for work on a building or immovable property, but normally three years for work on movable property; special exceptions may apply. Therefore, assess what type of work the locksmith actually performed.

In case of an unclear price, a reasonable price shall be assessed according to § 36. An approximate price estimate may, as a general rule, not be exceeded by more than 15 percent, but exceptions may follow from an agreed-upon different price limit or legal price additions (§§ 8 and 38). At the customer's request, the company shall provide an itemized bill (§ 40); a timely such request may affect the time of payment (§ 41). This does not mean that all invoices can automatically be left unpaid.

Information security: Never fill in key numbers, lock codes, pass combinations, or information on how locks can be bypassed. The documents are neither installation instructions nor security certificates.

Frequently asked questions

Can I complain about a lock replacement that does not work?

Yes, if an independently ordered work is incorrect according to the Consumer Services Act, it can be complained about. Describe the actual error, what was agreed, and when you discovered the problem. A professional inspection may be needed.

Does a three or ten-year complaint deadline apply to lock replacement?

It depends on the object of the work. For work on a building or property, the latest limit is normally ten years; for work on movable property, normally three years. A complaint must still be made within a reasonable time from discovery, with exceptions according to the law.

Do I have to pay an emergency surcharge that I have not been explained?

It depends on the agreement and the price rules of the law. Request an itemized bill and an account of the price basis and any additions. An objection does not automatically give the right to refrain from paying the entire invoice.

Can the locksmith increase an approximate price by more than 15 percent?

The general rule is an upper limit of 15 percent for an approximate price estimate, but exceptions exist, including for a different agreed limit and legal price additions. Excel shows a control signal, not a legal answer.

Does damage to the door frame automatically give the right to compensation?

No. The sequence of events, causation, liability, and any damages must be assessed. The template helps you document the basis without establishing a compensation amount.

Are the PDF files digitally fillable?

They are searchable and printable but have no interactive form fields. Edit the Word versions.

Are the legal documents in English?

No. Five work documents and Excel are in Swedish. Only the English User Guide provides a separate English user instruction.
