About this template

Did the sole come loose after repair, was the heel fitted incorrectly, or did your shoes receive new damage at the cobbler's? With this document package, individuals in Sweden can make a formal complaint about a shoe repair order, request information about shoes that have not yet been returned, check the repair invoice, and document a well-substantiated claim for compensation. The package does not automatically establish liability, the value of the damage, or the right to a refund.

Quick facts: 5 Swedish working documents, 1 Swedish user guide and 1 English User Guide, all available as editable DOCX files and searchable, printable PDFs without interactive form fields. Also included is a Swedish Excel tool with nine tabs. 7 independent documents in two formats + 1 XLSX = 15 customer files. Swedish law; digital ZIP file intended for delivery only after the product is manually activated later.

01 · Package contents

Five Swedish complaint and working documents, a Swedish user guide and an English instruction guide, each in both DOCX and PDF. Also included is an XLSX workbook. 7 DOCX + 7 PDF + 1 XLSX = 15 files. The PDFs are corresponding format versions, not additional independent documents.

02 · What the files contain

Substantiated complaint about repair defects, particularly evidence of damage and value, inquiry about shoes handed in, specification of price and invoice, and a submission/evidence log. The guides explain the correct approach and legal limits; the Excel file keeps requested, offered, approved, and actually received amounts separate.

Who should choose the template – and who needs something else?

Example 1: The newly glued sole comes loose immediately after the shoe repair. You need to describe what was agreed and ask the cobbler to investigate a possible defect. Example 2: A pair of shoes handed in cannot be located on the agreed collection day. You need to document the receipt, inquiry, and written responses, without already assuming that the shoes are definitely lost.

Choose a different case basis for defects in newly purchased shoes from a store (normal consumer purchase), the manufacture of completely new shoes, corporate agreements, purely insurance claims, or court/debt collection proceedings. This product does not replace an independent shoe-technical damage assessment.

Excel – how the nine tabs work

The workbook contains Overview, Cases, Shoes, Submission, Defects and damage, Claims, Contacts, Actions and Read me. Customer details are entered manually. Summation formulas show the number and amount; the date check flags if a registered collection appears to occur before the submission. Negative requested amounts are flagged for review.

Example: If you enter 400 SEK in the requested repair refund price and 150 SEK in a separately substantiated additional cost, Excel shows a total of 550 SEK requested. The amount is therefore not legally established, approved or paid. Offered, actually approved and received are recorded separately. Excel does not automatically calculate complaint deadlines or the right to compensation.

Workflow from complaint to follow-up

  1. Collect submission receipt, order, price information, shoe brand, size, photos and date.
  2. Choose the working letter for defects, alleged damage, shoes not yet returned or invoice check.
  3. Fill in the marked fields in Word and remove options that do not apply.
  4. Separate factual observations from assumptions about the cause and distinguish between the repair price and the value of the shoes.
  5. Send the appropriate letter with tracking, save attachments and proof of dispatch.
  6. Document the actual response, any action and decision in Excel; archive securely.

Swedish law and important limitations

For shoe repair for a private consumer, the Consumer Services Act (1985:716) normally applies because the work concerns movable property (§ 1). The law requires professional performance (§ 4), regulates defects and various consequences (including §§ 9 and 16–23), delays (§§ 24–31) and the right to an itemized calculation (§ 40). There are certain exceptions, for example when the work is part of a purchase (§ 2). See also the Swedish Consumer Agency's guidance on repair services.

A complaint about a defect should normally be made within a reasonable time after discovery. A complaint made within two months after the defect is discovered is always considered to be made in time. For work on movable property, the usual absolute deadline is three years after the completed assignment, with exceptions (§ 17). Complain promptly. The right to remedy, price reduction, rescission or damages requires specific conditions. An old purchase price is not automatically the compensation value of the damage. Payment-inclusive is not automatically valid for the entire invoice. For large amounts or debt collection claims, personal advice may be needed.

Similar cases – choose the right document

If the company sends a separate debt collection claim, different handling is required: see Contest a debt collection claim – objection letter and evidence log. For a later consumer dispute with compiled claims and evidence, an ARN complaint – consumer dispute and case register may be another document function. These are not identical to the complaint letter to the cobbler.

Frequently asked questions

Can I complain about a loose sole or a heel that was fitted incorrectly?

Yes, if the work is actually defective, you can complain about the shoe repair. Describe the defect, what was agreed and when it was discovered. A defect is not automatically proven just because the result does not meet an expectation.

What do I do if the cobbler cannot find my shoes?

Document 03 helps you request tracking and a written response supported by the submission receipt and identifying features. Loss, liability and possible compensation should be investigated separately; failure to collect does not automatically prove definitive loss.

Can I claim the entire original purchase price?

Not automatically. The age of the shoes, condition, actual damage, repair possibility and documented value may play a role. The template helps you present the basis and a concrete claim, not to establish the compensation.

Can the cobbler charge more than the price we agreed upon?

It depends on the price agreement, possibly approved additional work and the law. Document 04 allows you to request an itemized calculation and question a clearly defined item for substantive reasons.

Can I fill in the PDF directly?

No. The PDF files are searchable and printable, not interactive forms. The DOCX versions are editable.

Does the package contain English complaint letters?

No. The five working documents and Excel are in Swedish. Only the English User Guide is in English and provides instructions on the Swedish documents.
