About this template

Has a watchmaker serviced your watch without fixing the fault, has a watch sustained new damage, is the return missing, or is the invoice higher than you agreed? This package helps you as a private individual in Sweden to write a factual complaint about an independent watch repair, request an investigation, compare price quotes, and keep track of documentation, claims, and responses.

Quick facts: Five Swedish working documents, a Swedish user guide, and an English User Guide, each as an editable Word (DOCX) and searchable/printable PDF. The PDF files do not have interactive form fields. In addition, a Swedish-language Excel workbook with nine tabs and 410 formulas is included. 7 independent documents in two formats + 1 XLSX = 15 customer files. Swedish consumer law and digital ZIP delivery after subsequent manual activation.

01 · Package contents

Five Swedish working templates, a Swedish user guide, and an English User Guide. All seven documents are included in editable DOCX and corresponding searchable PDF. A separate XLSX workbook is included. 7 DOCX + 7 PDF + 1 XLSX = 15 files. The PDFs are formatted versions of the Word documents, not seven additional independent legal templates.

02 · What the files contain

Letter for incorrect watch repair, basis for alleged damage to a watch, inquiry about a watch not yet returned, specified price and invoice objection, and a neutral submission protocol. The guides provide workflow and legal boundaries. Excel separates the requested, offered, approved, and actually received amounts.

Who is the document package for?

Example 1 – service fault: The watch still runs incorrectly or stops after an ordered repair. Use document 01 to describe exactly what was agreed, what symptoms you can show, and the request for investigation and possible remedy. Example 2 – damage: After a glass replacement, there is a scratch or another new damage. Document 02 helps you document before/after condition, photos, and financial costs without stating that the cause is already established.

Example 3 – watch not yet returned: The workshop has passed the promised time or the watch cannot be found. Document 03 requests a traceable status and investigation; delay does not automatically mean the watch is lost. Example 4 – invoice dispute: You have received unexpected charges for inspection, spare parts, or additional work. Document 04 helps you request an itemized bill and specify exactly which items you object to.

Choose another basis if the dispute concerns a new watch bought from a store, a pure warranty matter with the manufacturer, a corporate agreement, or an independent valuation of a collector's watch. Such issues may be based on other contractual conditions or require expert assessment.

Excel: nine work tabs and 410 formulas

The tabs are named Overview, Cases, Watches, Submission, Faults and damages, Claims, Contacts, Actions, and Read me. You can enter your own case ID, agreed work, the watch's documented condition, dates, contacts, substantiated costs, and outcome. You can register up to 40 cases/rows per relevant worksheet. The formulas calculate administrative totals and highlight certain incompatible data.

Calculation example: 1,200 SEK in requested price reduction and 350 SEK in requested substantiated additional cost gives 1,550 SEK requested. If the watchmaker offers 900 SEK, the parties document an approval of 650 SEK, and 200 SEK is actually paid out, these amounts are four separate data points. Excel shows 450 SEK remaining of the registered approved amount. It is not a legally established compensation or proof that a payment obligation exists.

How to use the files

  1. Collect submission receipt, work order, price quote, invoice, dated photos, and actually received response.
  2. Choose the document that corresponds to the problem – service fault, alleged damage, missing return, invoice, or neutral evidence log.
  3. Fill in the Word file and delete bracketed text and inapplicable options before sending.
  4. Distinguish between what you have observed yourself, what the watchmaker has stated, and what has not yet been investigated.
  5. Send the complaint with tracking and save the message, attachments, proof of sending, and actual response.
  6. Register dates, possible actions, amounts, and documented decisions in Excel.

Swedish law: important boundaries

An independently ordered repair of a wristwatch for a consumer is normally covered by the Consumer Services Act (1985:716) because the work concerns a movable item. Companies must perform the service professionally (Section 4). Faults and consequences are regulated in, among others, Sections 9 and 16–23; delays in Sections 24–31, and invoicing/price in Sections 36–41. The Swedish Consumer Agency explains the rights in repair services.

Complaint: You need to complain about the fault within a reasonable time from when you discovered or should have discovered it. A complaint within two months after discovery is always on time. For the repair of a movable item, the latest deadline is normally three years after the work is completed, with the exceptions of the law (Section 17). A warranty is something different from the statutory right of complaint.

Price: An agreed fixed price applies according to the agreement. An approximate price quote may generally not be exceeded by more than 15 percent, unless another limit has been agreed and no legal price surcharge under Section 38 applies (Section 36). The customer can request an itemized bill (Section 40); such a timely request can affect the time of payment (Section 41). This does not create any general right to withhold the entire invoice.

Value and damage: The watch's age, condition, documented market value, insurance issues, and causal link can affect a possible compensation claim. The historical new price or personal sentimental value is not automatically the correct compensation amount. Excel does not perform watchmaking technical inspection, tightness control, authenticity testing, or legal valuation.

Frequently asked questions

Can I complain about a watch that still runs incorrectly after service?

Yes, you can complain about an actual fault in the ordered service. Describe the agreed result, observed symptoms, and when the fault was discovered. A technical investigation may be needed to establish the cause.

What do I do if the watchmaker does not return the watch?

Use the inquiry letter to request status, tracking, and time of return. Do not decide in advance that the watch is definitely lost or that a certain compensation amount has been established.

Can I claim the entire original purchase price if the watch is damaged?

Not automatically. Evidence, causal link, age, condition, and substantiated value can be decisive. Collector watches may require an independent valuation basis.

Can the workshop charge for spare parts that I have not expressly ordered?

It depends on, among other things, the agreement and the rules on additional work in Sections 8 and 38 of the Consumer Services Act. Request an itemized bill and document exactly what you have or have not approved.

Are the PDF files fillable?

No, they are searchable and printable but not interactive PDF forms. Use the DOCX files for editing.

Do I get the legal working letters in English?

No. The five legal working documents and Excel are in Swedish. English User Guide is solely an English guide to the Swedish files.
