About this template
Have you paid more than the agreed taxi price, missing a taxi receipt, or received an invoice you don't recognize? This document package helps you as a private individual structure a written complaint against a taxi company, request pricing information, object to a specified portion of an invoice, and follow up on any refund. The package contains five different Swedish templates, two guides, and a macro-free Excel register with nine tabs.
Quick answer: Sweden has free pricing for taxis. A high taxi price is therefore not automatically incorrect. Check what the taxi company in question has agreed or informed you about, save the taximeter receipt and any fixed-price confirmation, and make a written complaint about a concrete, substantiated discrepancy. The Swedish Consumer Agency describes how to proceed with a questioned taxi price.
01 · Package Contents
7 Word (.docx) + 7 searchable PDF (.pdf) + 1 Excel (.xlsx) = 15 customer files in a digital ZIP package. Five templates are in Swedish, one guide is in Swedish, and an English User Guide explains how the Swedish letters are used. The documents have two clear information boxes on a separate instructions page and editable letter text on the following page. The PDF files are printable but are not interactive fillable forms.
02 · What the Files Contain
Request for a taximeter receipt and tariff, complaint about the charged price, objection to an unpaid taxi invoice, refund request after payment, and a separate follow-up letter. The guides explain the terms comparative price, fixed price, and binding price information. Excel separates trip details, price evidence, discrepancies, claims, and actually paid amounts; mathematical differences are not automatic legal compensation.
Which Letter Do You Need?
Example A – The taxi receipt is missing: You know when and where you traveled but need price evidence, the applied tariff, and a receipt. Start with document 01. A taximeter receipt can be requested, and the Swedish Transport Agency describes what information it may contain.
Example B – Higher price than agreed: You booked at a documented fixed price or received binding price information, but paid more. Choose document 02 for the complaint, followed by document 04 once you have substantiated a refund amount.
Example C – Unpaid taxi invoice: You accept part of the invoice but have evidence of an incorrect item. Use document 03 for a limited written objection. Pay or handle the undisputed part separately and check any collection deadlines.
Example D – The company does not respond: You have complained and documented when the letter was sent. Document 05 provides a factual follow-up, without fabricated statutory response times.

Excel: Nine Tabs with Actual Registers and Formulas
START · Trips · Price Information · Discrepancies · Complaints · Contacts · Amounts · Overview · READ ME. In the START tab is the official price base amount for 2026, the statutory percentage, and the formula for the correct comparative price limit. The Overview tab summarizes actually registered trips, complaints, requested and approved amounts, and actual payments.
Example of a purely mathematical check: If you can substantiate a relevant agreed price of SEK 710 and actually paid SEK 850, the difference column shows SEK 140. That column does not prove that SEK 710 was the correct price for your specific trip – the basis of tariff, fixed price, or binding price information must first be substantiated. Similarly, approved SEK 110 minus paid SEK 50 is shown as SEK 60 without Excel determining the due date or right to compensation. Empty customer registers are reset; no sample persons or macros are included.
The Taxi Rules 2026: Important About 710 Kronor
Sweden has free pricing, and there is no general maximum price for taxi trips. The taxi must display relevant price information, and the basis for the taxi fare must be known before the trip when taximeter rules apply. Comparative price is the price for a standard trip of 10 km and 15 minutes with any base fee – thus not a maximum price for the trip you actually took. The Taxi Traffic Act (2012:211) Chapter 2, Sections 17–21 regulates this.
According to the current Chapter 2, Section 20, a binding price information with a maximum price must be provided if the comparative price exceeds 1.2% of the year's price base amount, rounded down to the nearest ten, when the current rule is applicable and a fixed price is not used. For 2026, the price base amount is SEK 59,200 according to Ordinance (2025:872), which gives 59,200 × 0.012 = SEK 710.40 and rounded down SEK 710. It is when the comparative price exceeds SEK 710 that the condition can trigger the requirement – not when the final price for a specific trip exceeds SEK 710.
Source Note: Older web information from authorities may still mention SEK 700. This package follows the updated calculation rule in the law text and the established price base amount for 2026. For trips in a different year, the year's price base amount and legal situation must be checked before using an amount-specific claim. In the case of an agreed fixed price, a different delimitation applies, and the documented agreement is central.
What You Do – From Price Evidence to Complaint
- Find out which taxi company was your contracting party and save the receipt, booking confirmation, registration number, and any driver code.
- Determine whether the price was a fixed price, a taximeter price, or a documented binding maximum price. Do not compare solely with other taxi companies' prices.
- Document the concrete discrepancy: which fee or price information does not match what you were charged? Request missing documentation with document 01.
- Choose document 02 for a written complaint, 03 for an unpaid invoice, or 04 for a specified refund request after payment. Strike out all circumstances you cannot substantiate.
- Send the letter through the correct contact channel, save a copy, and note the company's case number in Excel.
- Follow up with document 05. If the dispute remains, check if ARN's Travel Department can review your case according to current value and time limits.
Common Questions About Incorrect Taxi Prices
Can a taxi in Sweden charge whatever it wants?
Taxi companies have free pricing, but must follow applicable price information and agreed or binding prices. A high final price is not automatically an error.
What is the comparative price for a taxi?
The comparative price is the price for a reference trip of 10 km taking 15 minutes, including any base fee. It helps you compare taxi companies' price levels and is not a general final price cap.
Must the taxi driver provide binding price information in 2026?
According to the Taxi Traffic Act Chapter 2, Sections 20–21, a binding maximum price must be provided when the comparative price exceeds the statutory 2026 threshold of SEK 710 and the conditions for the rule are met. For a fixed price, the same price information is not required.
I received a fixed price but paid more. What do I do?
Save evidence of the price and payment, complain in writing, and request a review of the difference. Documents 02 and 04 are intended for that situation.
Can I dispute the taxi invoice?
You can object to a concrete incorrect part of an unpaid invoice and explain why. Be careful to separate undisputed amounts and monitor any claim deadlines.
How can I get a taxi receipt after the fact?
Contact the taxi company and provide available booking, vehicle, and payment details. Document 01 collects the information in a clear request.
Can I report the taxi company to ARN?
ARN reviews disputes under certain conditions. For trips, the normal current value limit is SEK 1,500, with a requirement to complain to the company and report within one year from the first complaint. Always check ARN's current conditions.
Are the letters also in English and the PDF files fillable?
No. Five templates and one guide are in Swedish; the seventh Word/PDF file is an English instruction. The PDF files are searchable and printable, not interactive forms. Edit the letter text in DOCX.
Related Document Products
If your dispute remains and you need to structure a consumer dispute, ARN Complaint – Consumer Dispute and Evidence can be a later complementary document. For a train delay instead of a taxi, there is Train Delay and Cancelled Train, which follows other rules. None of them replace the specific pricing information of the taxi case.
