About this template

Travel Consent for Children – Word, PDF, and Excel 2026/2027

Is a child traveling abroad with one parent, another adult, or alone? This package contains separate templates for parental travel consent, an English support template, a checklist for destination and airline requirements, and an Excel register for control and document management.

Digital delivery: 15 files: 7 editable DOCX, 7 searchable A4 PDFs, and 1 XLSX with nine tabs and 16 administrative key performance indicators. Swedish main documents, English travel form, and Swedish/English user guide.

Important regarding international travel: The police do not have a general Swedish standard form for such travel authorization. The EU has no uniform rules for parental consent. Check the destination country, transit countries, and the carrier – some require their own forms, witnesses, translation, or notarization. A private certificate does not guarantee entry.

01. Package Contents

7 Word + 7 PDF + 1 Excel = 15 files, without subscription or physical shipping. Three Swedish travel consent forms for different travel situations, one English consent form for travel with one parent, a separate control sheet, and user guides in Swedish and English.

Version: 1.0 / 2026–2027. Editorial source review: October 16, 2026. The documents are private working documents, not government forms or external legal approvals.

How to use parental consent – ten steps

  1. Determine the child's custody situation and actual travel route.
  2. Verify that the child has the correct travel documents and, if applicable, a visa.
  3. Ask relevant authorities and embassies about the destination's requirements.
  4. Also check every transit country.
  5. Ask the airline/carrier about their own forms and age limits.
  6. Choose a template based on whether the child is traveling with one parent, another adult, or alone.
  7. Fill in correct travel dates, names, contact persons, and purpose.
  8. Arrange for necessary guardian signatures and potential notarization.
  9. Protect information about children and guardians.
  10. Check current rules again close to departure.

What rules apply to children's travel?

The Police recommend some form of consent from guardians when not everyone is traveling together and point out that the country the child is traveling to or through may have its own rules. There is no Swedish standard form for travel authorization. Your Europe highlights that there are no common EU requirements and that airlines may require their own documents. The Swedish Consumer Agency refers to the destination country's authorities or embassy.

These documents do not replace a valid passport, visa, custody court order, or the Police's special consent for a passport/national ID card. In cases of custody disputes, protected personal data, or special limitations, an individual legal assessment is required.

Do you need to buy a travel consent? No. A travel consent does not have to be purchased for a child to be able to travel. If the authority or airline requires a special form, it can often be obtained free of charge from that entity. This product is a voluntary, editable working and control package with several documents and an Excel register – not a fee to any authority. See the Swedish Consumer Agency's guidance.

Frequently asked questions about travel consent

Must both parents sign?

That depends on the custody arrangements and the rules that apply to the country in question and the carrier. Check actual authorization requirements.

Does the consent work in all countries?

No. It is an adaptable private document, not a universal international permit.

Is an English parental consent included?

Yes, for the situation where the child travels with one parent. Other situations have Swedish main documents and a separate English user guide.

Can children travel alone with this form?

Only if both the carrier's rules and other applicable requirements permit the specific trip. Document 03 does not replace the carrier's mandatory forms.

Must the consent be witnessed?

It may be required by certain countries or carriers; check before departure.

Is the template government-approved?

No. It is a commercially editable working document with references to official sources and must be adapted.
