About this template
Scope of Work Schedule for Construction Contracts 2026/2027 – responsibility matrix, installation boundaries, and contract annex
Who is responsible for delivery, cutting, fastening, assembly, connections, coordinated testing, and final documentation? A professional scope of work schedule for construction contracts helps clients, construction managers, general contractors, performing contractors, and subcontractors to document the boundaries between different work tasks, technical disciplines, and contractual parties.
This template package combines a scope of work schedule, responsibility matrix, installation interface, contract annex, query log, and an Excel register with a dashboard. You receive 15 downloadable files in editable Word, searchable PDF, and Excel formats, as well as a Swedish and English user guide. Price 79 SEK – digital delivery, no subscriptions or shipping costs.
The templates are based on Swedish construction practice, agreed distribution of responsibility, and the Swedish National Board of Housing, Building and Planning's (Boverket) guidance on the developer's responsibility. AB 04 and ABT 06 are contract terms from Föreningen BKK and apply only when agreed upon. BKK has stated that replacement agreements are expected no earlier than the latter part of 2027. The template package contains no copied standard contract terms and is not an authority-approved document.

03. Excel – responsibility matrix and dashboard with nine tabs
Overview · Boundaries · Responsibilities · Installations · Queries · Changes · Decisions · Version log · Read me.
Collect all actual boundary IDs and responsibility items with source, party, reviewer, revision number, and status. Track registered boundaries, open queries, critical issues, decision IDs, change proposals, and revision logs. The status lists help you distinguish between proposed, under investigation, and approved per annex.
Important: An empty register results in 0 in the dashboard. Zero does not mean the boundaries are resolved. Marking a row as approved does not create an agreement if the parties have not actually entered into a valid one.
How to use the scope of work schedule
- Determine the contractual situation. Check signed contracts, contract type, administrative provisions (AF), descriptions, drawings, annex structure, and any deviations.
- Define each boundary. Clearly state what is included, which work task is affected, physical boundary point, responsible contractor, and what is expressly excluded.
- Assign the roles. Separate design from procurement, installation, inspection, testing, and as-built documentation. Describe Party A and Party B with actual company names.
- Investigate contradictions. For queries that cannot be decided through the current contract: document underlying material, responsible respondent, deadline, and any decision requirements.
- Document express decisions. If contract responsibility, compensation, or time are to be changed, authority, written requirement, and notice requirements must be followed. Use the contract annex only after such verification.
- Version control and follow up. Update the Excel, save original decisions and old revisions, and ensure the current list is distributed to the correct recipients.
Boundary definition according to AB 04, ABT 06 and PBL – legally important
AB 04 and ABT 06 apply only if they are part of the construction contract. They are standard terms, not law. The division of responsibility between design and execution is typically different depending on the contract type but can be affected by specific contract terms. An Excel matrix, a draft, or construction meeting minutes are not automatically a binding change to the contract.
A scope of work annex should therefore show parties, contract reference, scope, exclusions, document hierarchy, valid revision, authorized representatives, and any separate decisions on time or compensation. Formal change order (ÄTA) requests and hindrance notices may need to be handled according to a specific procedure.
According to the Planning and Building Act (2010:900) Chapter 10 Section 5, the developer (byggherren) has a responsibility to ensure that the construction and design fulfill applicable requirements. An internal responsibility list cannot automatically transfer or override this public law responsibility. Technical safety requirements must be verified by the appropriate expertise and may not be determined by general templates.
The template contains no pre-filled actual companies, contract liabilities, technical values, approved change orders, certifications, or authority-defined distributions of responsibility. Adaptation to the project's contract and professional assessment are required. If the document is to become a binding contract annex, it should be reviewed and adopted by authorized representatives.

Common questions about scope of work schedules
What is a scope of work schedule in a construction project?
A list that describes where one party's delivery or work task ends and the next party's responsibility begins. It can relate to both technical and commercial interfaces, but the scope depends on the contract.
Is a responsibility matrix legally binding?
Not automatically. For legal effect, one must assess, among other things, how the matrix was incorporated into the contract, who approved it, potential hierarchy, and the contract's formal requirements.
Can I use the package for both AB 04 and ABT 06?
Yes, as editable support, but you must check whether the respective standard terms have actually been agreed upon and adapt the distribution according to the contract type and the specific rules of the contract.
Are technical electrical and HVAC boundaries included?
Yes, as open fields for the current project's boundary points, connections, and testing responsibilities. The package does not contain pre-filled technical sizing values or safety certificates.
Is an English-language contract annex included?
No. The main templates are in Swedish; a separate English user guide is included for international project participants.
How does the Excel register work?
Each entry receives a unique ID and status. The dashboard only counts entered IDs and shows zero when the tables are empty. There are no fictitious construction decisions or pre-approved distributions of responsibility.
