About this template

Personal property damage inventory helps private individuals document damaged, destroyed, stolen, or lost items when dealing with insurance companies. The package includes editable Word templates, corresponding searchable PDFs, and an Excel register. This is not the insurance company’s official claim form and does not determine the right to compensation, deductibles, or depreciation.

01. Package contents

Five Swedish working documents, each in Word (DOCX) and searchable PDF; a Swedish and an English user guide in both formats; and an Excel workbook. 7 DOCX + 7 PDF + 1 XLSX = 15 customer files in a ZIP. No interactive PDF form or automatic submission to insurance companies is promised.

02. What the files contain

Item inventory, incident description, evidence attachment, cost documentation, and supplementary letters. The Excel register has nine tabs for manual entry and an overview of your own amounts, written decisions, and actual payouts – these details are kept separate.

When is this the right template?

For those who need to collect data on personal property in the event of property damage or loss, for example after a fire, burglary, or other damage where the insurance company requests an inventory. The template is used as an attachment or working document for a separate insurance claim. For building damage, personal injury, motor vehicle damage, and business insurance, other documentation is often required.

The Excel tool

The workbook contains a Dashboard, Items, Incidents, Evidence, Costs, Contacts, Supplements, Decisions, and Read Me. The dashboard counts registered entries and sums up manually entered amounts. Your own estimate is not the same as the insurance company’s decision, and a decision does not mean that a payment has been made. Therefore, the tool does not automatically calculate any final insurance compensation.

How to use the package

  1. Report the damage as soon as possible via the insurance company's regular channel and read the terms and conditions.
  2. Fill in the incident description and register the items with unique IDs.
  3. Link existing photographs, receipts, bank statements, or other documentation to the same ID.
  4. Register your own value estimates and actual quotes without assuming they will be reimbursed.
  5. Follow up on the insurance company's questions and document the written decision and any actual payments separately.

Legal conditions

The insured party generally needs to provide evidence of ownership, damage, and value. A receipt may be relevant but is not the only conceivable proof. Insurance terms and individual claims adjustment determine the compensation. The Swedish Insurance Contracts Act (2005:104) contains rules on claims adjustment, including Chapter 7, Sections 1–2. The package does not calculate any legal notification or limitation periods.

Frequently asked questions

Is the damage inventory an official claim?

No. You use the template to collect and structure information, while the actual claim is made in the manner prescribed by the insurance company.

Do I need to have original receipts?

Not necessarily. Photographs, bank statements, and other available material can also be relevant for proving ownership and value. The insurance company assesses the documentation.

Does Excel calculate how much the insurance company will pay?

No. Excel only sums the amounts you register yourself and shows decided versus paid compensation as separate data points.

Can the PDF files be edited?

The PDF files are searchable and printable. The Word files are intended for editing. No special interactive PDF form function is included.

Do the templates apply to business damage?

The product is limited to the personal property of private individuals. Business insurance and major commercial losses may require other documentation and individual review.

Are the documents in English?

The five working documents are in Swedish. An English User Guide explains the Swedish usage and does not imply adaptation to foreign law.

For inventory in connection with renting, there is an inventory list and inspection protocol. For building and property damage, other documentation is used instead of this personal property package.
