What the files contain
Two alternative new prenuptial agreements (choose the one relevant original), an asset list, a cover letter, and a checklist. The Excel file contains Overview, Previous Agreements, Assets, Changes, Review, Registration, Case Log, Sources, and Read Me. Formulas identify items for change review and provide a clear warning for assets subject to third-party conditions.
Important: The Excel log is for internal use only and does not register prenuptial agreements or change the legal status of any assets.
How do you revoke a prenuptial agreement?
According to Chapter 7, Section 3 of the Marriage Code and the Swedish Tax Agency's guidance, spouses draw up a new prenuptial agreement and apply for registration. In the new document, you state what shall apply. A simple notice of termination or revocation does not replace the requirement for a new prenuptial agreement that meets the formal requirements.
How to use the template package
- Retrieve previous originals: review the registered prenuptial agreement and any subsequent changes.
- Check the basis of the assets: distinguish between contractually designated separate property and property that is separate as a result of a gift, will, or other third-party condition.
- Choose an option: use Word Template 01 for a complete change to previously contractually designated separate property, or Word Template 02 and the asset appendix for a limited change.
- Customize the agreement: enter both spouses' details, identify the assets, and check that the terms do not contradict each other.
- Sign and date: both spouses must sign the new prenuptial agreement.
- Register: send the original to the Swedish Tax Agency and pay the current registration fee according to the agency's instructions.
Can you change only part of the prenuptial agreement?
Yes, if the spouses draw up a new, sufficiently clear prenuptial agreement containing the intended change. One of the templates is specifically designed to identify which provisions and assets are covered, while the remaining terms that are to continue can be left unchanged.
Frequently asked questions
Can one spouse revoke the prenuptial agreement alone?
No. A new prenuptial agreement must normally be signed by both spouses to meet the formal requirements.
Must the new prenuptial agreement be registered?
Yes. It must be registered with the Swedish Tax Agency. However, registration with the Swedish Tax Agency does not guarantee that all civil law formulations will have the intended effect.
Can inherited property subject to a condition designating it as separate property be made marital property using this template?
Not automatically. Property may be separate as a result of a gift or will from someone other than the other spouse. A prenuptial agreement between the spouses cannot alone override such a condition.
Does a new prenuptial agreement transfer ownership of property?
No. Classifying property as marital or separate property is not the same as a transfer of ownership, gift, or division of property.
How much does registration with the Swedish Tax Agency cost?
The Swedish Tax Agency stated an application fee of SEK 275 during an inspection on October 22, 2026. Check the current fee and instructions before submitting the original. This fee is not included in Mallbutikens product price.

Legal basis and scope
The material is based on the Marriage Code (1987:230), primarily Chapter 7, Sections 1–3, as well as the Swedish Tax Agency's current information on changing and registering prenuptial agreements. International financial arrangements, property subject to third-party conditions, and unclear interpretations of old agreements may require a separate individual assessment.
